Jennifer Hilliard

Jennifer Hilliard's work is both, a remembrance of the past and a reverence for the natural world. Her Celtic and Native American heritage play a central role in the bulk of the pieces comprising her work. She is often drawn to the traditions of ancient peoples and employs several methods and mediums to portray this in nontraditional imagery as a means of remaking those connections. The masks emerged organically as a translation of these images into a means of stepping outside oneself in a more literal fashion.

Jennifer is largely self-taught, barring a few classes in college preceded by a year in the Governor's Magnet School for the Arts. Her work is inspired by tradition, environment, dreams, and observation.

She feels strongly about connecting with her viewers through her images in a straightforward way. Jenn has been drawing since she could steal a pencil and find a piece of wallspace, and oddly, that continues in it's

own way to this day...

Thank you for your understanding.

P.S
This is January the 25th and I have just started uploading the necklaces and adding the masks. Again, for me these tasks are akin to catching greased eels in a barrel with my bare paws, and some of them are electric (like when I forget to save...) so if you are interested in the work please bear with me while I limp through this process..! I will be uploading more as time permits...blah yadda and so on!
